Rebekah Paulson is a founding member and Executive Director of the Friends of Stadium Woods (FOSW), the grassroots, all-volunteer advocacy group founded in November 2011 to permanently protect the 12 acre, rare Old Growth Forest on Virginia Tech’s campus. In 2014 she received the Forest Advocate Award from The Old Growth Forest Network for her leadership efforts to protect VA Tech’s Old Growth Forest. She is a lifelong environmentalist and advocate.
Rebekah is an organic gardener and floral designer. She is a member of the Virginia Native Plant Society, Virginia Master Naturalists, Southside Garden Club, NRV Bird Club and Luther Memorial Lutheran Church. Rebekah’s Blacksburg garden is both a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat and a Certified Monarch Watch Monarch Waystation.
Rebekah has lived in Blacksburg since 2001. She worked for Lacies Garden Center and created her own floral business “Rebekah’s Country Garden.” She previously worked for the World Resources Institute, the AES Corporation and an International Law Firm while living in Arlington, VA. She has a B.A. in Political Science from George Washington University and also attended James Madison University and University of Valencia, Spain.
